The Dec.31-Jan.7 edition of US News & World Report has an article about ways to improve your life. I picked it up, just out of curiosity, and I was delighted to find that four of the fifty ways involve reading:
#11 is "find a book worth talking about" (they mention the terrifically titled book "How To Talk About Books You Haven't Read" by Pierre Baynard), (It's on order, you can place a hold ...)
#12 is "read with some new perspective",
#17 is "swing by your local library", and
#18 is "read an international newspaper"
Of course, I particularly like #17...so swing by the Banning Public Library and improve your life in 2008 - you might want to start by reading the rest of the article which tells you the other 46 ways to improve your life.
